Well it's been a while since I've had time to get the website up to date. There has been plenty happening and lots of great music coming through the studio. Plans for the studio include two isolation booths, one for the piano and another one drums, double bass or whatever the session requires. More imminent though is the creation of a real echo chamber, tests are being carried out now on the viability of the plan. All being well we should be able to recreate the great sounds that were used on some of those old records. Watch this space.
Albums produced at the studio include work by the following artists: Tim Moon, Rod Mason, Ben Crosland, Hebden Bridge Community Choir, Jim Wilkes Stompers, Black Umfolosi, Hekety, Joe Public, Bill Holdsworth Orchestra, Extinction Of Mankind, The Ella Rooke Sextet, The Derrick Harris Quartet, Paul Wilkinson, Alan Rudkin, The Kid Boyd Jazz Band, Rosie Brown, Dave Skinner & Laura Fowles, Tony Leigh Trio with Stuart MacDonald, Kirsty McGee. |
Recent Albums recorded at Woodman: Jim Wilkes Stompers - We Just Get On And they do get on it seems, having been together for 20 plus years they have a huge catalogue of tunes to choose from. This album finds them playing their trad jazz and blues with the energy of people half their age .
The Kid Boyd Jazz Band - Rainbow Jazz Martin and the guys return, this time with Ken Marley on the bass, playing a range of tunes many of which look to South Africa for inspiration. This is an 'up' album that lives up to it's title.
Laura Fowles & Dave Skinner This is a duo album of alto sax and piano, using standards as a springboard for some sparkling improvisation and topped off with occasional vocals from Laura.
The Swampnobs - The Toilets Are Massive The blues did actually originate in the Irwell delta not Mississippi as more commonly thought. Galen and Pete are on a mission playing early acoustic blues, keeping the tradition and the spirit alive and being big in Korea (no, really).
The Tony Leigh Trio with Stuart MacDonald Live At The Millbank Live recording of this hard driving band. Fronted by Stuart on saxes with an excellent rythym section, these guys love playing and you can hear it! |
Great Demos from new Bands ! Recent visitors include: Japonica Daisywheels
Other projects include: Albums from Rosie Brown, Manhattan Sound and Belinda O'Hooley.
A spoken word album of childhood reminiscences for sale at National Trust shops by Keith Whalley.
